Mercedes unveil the new C-Class Coupé
Mercedes-Benz are introducing a brand new Coupé to the C-Class family. The innovative C-Class brings an outstanding style to the sportiest version of the C-Class, with the new slick and elegant design complementing the powerful yet efficient engines. The C-Class Coupé seemingly has the perfect balance between aesthetics and driving performance to deliver an unmatched driving experience. The new Coupé stands out among the very best on the road, with an enhanced front section containing a diamond radiator grille and commanding low slung profile, the new C-Class has quickly built a vast amount of anticipation surrounding its December 2015 release date. The new aerodynamic framework gives the car a futuristic feel to the car and shows Mercedes’ ability to consistently adapt to the ever-changing environment of the industry. Compared to its predecessor, the new Coupé sets much greater standards to the competition and incorporates everything that is needed for a fantastic driving experience.
Initially, there will be four different petrol engines available to customers willing to purchase the new Coupé. The range begins with the 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine in the C 180 with 115 kW/156 hp to the two-litre C 200 (135 kW/184 hp), C 250 (155 kW/211 hp) and C 300 (180kw/245 hp) models. The two diesel models available will contain four-cylinder power units developing either 125kw/170hp or 150kw/204hp. The diesel models also show off SCR technology for eco-friendly exhaust gas after treatment. The powerful nature of the engines on the new car are not in the absence of efficiency with the new Coupé consuming as much as 20% less fuel than its predecessor. All engine types utilise ECO start/stop function to cut down emissions and fuel consumption in traffic and built up areas. Therefore the C-Class Coupé delivers driving pleasure in any situation.
Driver comfort has been an important aspect in the making of the new C-Class. Whilst creating an agile and sporty vehicle, Mercedes-Benz have put an emphasis on the all-round driving experience, with an improved suspension to maximize the comfortability of the driver. The suspension integrates low road-roar and tyre vibration to deliver a high level of comfort, whilst still ensuring an athletic driving dynamic. The suspension offers fantastic grip and lateral stability due to the new 4-link front axle wit wheel suspension decoupled from the string strut. Compared to the previous car, the new Coupé will react more sensitively to steering movements and will implement a sportier and responsive way of driving. The Coupé sits 15 millimetres lower than the saloon to add greater stability and suppleness to driving the car. The C-Class Coupé can also come with optional AIRMATIC air suspension on both axles to significantly add to the driving experience. This option allows the car to adapt to any conditions on the road and suit the preferences of anyone driving the car. This comes with five unique options to maximize full driving potential: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and an Individual option that allows the driver to customize the settings of the air suspension to suit their driving needs.
The Interior boasts a new elegant and sleek design that exemplifies a modern way of driving. Whilst some of the interior of the car leans towards looking like the saloon version of the C-Class, the Coupé contains some unique features to further enhance the car’s sporty characteristics. The design of the interior perfectly resembles the outside bodywork, the crisp panelling of the interior doors and modernised technology in the car add to the futuristic feel of the car. The specially designed Coupé sports seats are perfect for driver comfort whilst allowing the car to feel like a sports car. Any preconceptions about space in the car are quickly abolished. The new Coupé is 95 millimetres longer and 40 millimetres wider compared to its predecessor, along with its 80 millimetre longer wheelbase, the Driver and front seat passenger have a lot more room that isn’t usually associated with Coupé cars.
The new C-Class Coupé offers a wide range of safety features that gives the driver the ability to greatly improve their enjoyment of driving, without worrying about the safety of the car. The Car includes as standard Attention Assist, which warns the driver about drowsiness and inattentiveness, factors that could severely impair their driving. Also included in the car is Collision Prevention Assist Plus. This feature sends a warning to the driver at speeds above 7 km/h and Adaptive Brake assist that aids the braking of the depending on the current situation. The system can also carry out autonomous braking if the driver fails to respond to a persistent threat of a collision. This works up to 200 km/h and will also react to stationery vehicles up to 50 km/h and prevents rear-end collisions up to 40km/h. The car can be upgraded with a number of other safety features like Active Parking Assist and BAS Plus Brake Assist system for example.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 & C 63 S Coupé
Mercedes-AMG continuously creates ground-breaking and technically advanced cars and the new range of Coupés are no exception. The C 63 & C 63 S are the latest in a line of cutting-edge vehicles, with an increased track width and larger wheels, the new Coupé have a much more powerful appearance, whilst maintaining the agile nature of the standard car. The cars employ an AMG 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine on both models, the S version containing a staggering 510 HP, whilst the standard C 63 contains a still impressive 476 HP. The colossal performance of the AMG car is presented in its acceleration, the C63 doing 0-62 in just 4.0 seconds and the S version 3.9 seconds. The use of AMG Ride Control with electronically controlled shock absorbers allows the driver to have maximum comfort even when driving at top speeds. The car is set to be fully unveiled on 15 September 2015 at the Frankfurt International Motor show, in line with the car’s expected release date in March 2016.
