Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge at the stunning Brocket Hall Golf Club
The Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire 2015 Golf Challenge, pre-qualifier to the regional final of the Mercedes-Benz Trophy, was played out in slightly different fashion to previous years. For the last 8 years we have held heats in clubs across the county, whereas this year players came from within our fantastic customer base to take to the tee at the stunning venue of Brocket Hall.
An early start was met with favourable weather conditions which seemed to get better and better as the day continued, whilst the superbly prepared course made for some equally impressive scoring, with the group ending the day at the head of the field coming from across the handicap range.
Following the golf it was time for our players to relax and unwind in the company of L&L Automotive (Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire) Brand Director David Presley and three general managers from across the group; Andrew Gallagher (Hertford), Nick Spang (Stevenage) and Iain Phythian (Bishop’s Stortford), along with the marketing team. A spectacle by Kevin Carpenter, one of the UK’s best trick-shot display golfers, was followed by a superb late lunch, exquisitely ending a day of magnificent hospitality provided by Brocket Hall Golf Club.
Congratulations go to our winner Michael Thayne (Mid Herts Golf Club – handicap 13) but also the runners up Paul Whitnell (Manor of Groves Golf & Country Club – handicap 19) and Phil Embleton (Brookmans Park – Handicap 1) who will join him on the 30th July at St. George’s Hill Golf Club in Weybridge, Surrey for the MB Trophy Regional Final.
Phil Embleton was on top form, winning the nearest the pin prize with Vernon Rodrigues (Mill Green Golf Club – handicap 11) winning the longest drive prize with a drive so impressive, no one came even close to equalling, let alone beating! Our ladies longest drive and nearest the pin competitions were won by Ruth Chaplin (Thorndon Park Golf Club – handicap 18) and Wendy Osborne (Heydon Grange Golf Club – Handicap 15) respectively.
We’ve had some fantastic feedback so it would appear everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did which makes it all worthwhile. We’d like to thank everyone who made it a very special Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge; Brocket Hall Golf Club, Kevin Carpenter and all our golfers, we couldn’t do it without you.
